Whistler & Surrounds

There is more to Whistler than the mountain. Lakes and rivers flow through the Whistler Valley providing options for a range of outdoor activities.

The Valley Trail runs from the village west to the “Lost Lake”. Here can be found a network of walking trails in and around the lake.

Another afternoon we explored Whistler to the south, stopping at Callaghan Creek and the Brandywine Falls. Callaghan Creek is the site of the ski jump venue for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games.
Continuing south to the Brandywine Provincial Park we enjoyed the scenic stroll to Brandywine Falls. Beyond the falls we glimpsed Lake Cheakamus. We returned to this glacier fed lake on the final day, for me the highlight of the trip.
Venturing north a few kms out of town, we also enjoyed an afternoon canoeing on Green Lake. Time permitting we would have continued to Pemberton and the renowned Joffre Lakes. Hopefully we will return there for a long weekend in the spring/summer (maybe with some Australian friends?)
