Boxing Day Fun

The Christmas New Year period was infused with the novelty and excitement of snow. Queens Park across the road was transformed into a ski run – young families brought out their toboggans & we joined in the fun with several thrilling runs down the Queens Park hill! Mum, dad and the boys all took turns – that’s Dan being inventive and creating a snow man!

A Boxing Day tradition here is the World Junior Hockey Championships, an event in which Canada reigns supreme. Having won the last 4 & hosting this year’s event, the locals would accept nothing less than another gold medal performance! For the record they achieved the feat, defeating Sweden in the final after beating arch rivals Russia in the semi (Canada scoring the equalising goal with 3 seconds left, before going on to win one of the best ever matches)

Keen to see the big event (while Brian & Stephanie were in OZ witnessing another Boxing Day tradition, the Cricket Test in Melbourne) we thought we’d pop into the local Safeway supermarket to pick up a few essentials. Check out these pictures – BC hasn’t seen this much snow in a generation, talk about being in the right place at the right time!
